# Laura McLinn-West Dies Following Motorcycle Crash in Camden County

A fatal motorcycle accident claimed the life of Laura McLinn-West, 48, of Laquey, after the vehicle swerved to avoid a deer on a rural road near Camdenton in Camden County, Missouri, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred when McLinn-West, who was operating the motorcycle, encountered a deer crossing the roadway east of Camdenton. In an attempt to evade the animal, the rider lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a serious collision. McLinn-West sustained critical injuries from the impact and was subsequently transported for medical treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries despite emergency response efforts.

Dave West, who was riding with McLinn-West at the time of the incident, also suffered injuries in the accident. State Highway Patrol officials documented the crash and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Wildlife-related traffic accidents remain a persistent hazard on rural Missouri roadways, particularly during seasons when deer movement increases across transportation corridors. The incident underscores the dangers motorcyclists face when encountering unexpected obstacles at highway speeds, where reaction time and road conditions become critical factors in accident prevention.
