Lenwell Wade Massey, a longtime Statesville resident, passed away peacefully Thursday at Gordon Hospice House. The 92-year-old, known to friends and family as Lynn, died after a full life spent in his native Iredell County, where he was born March 22, 1934.
Massey’s nine decades spanned significant chapters of American history, during which he established deep roots in the North Carolina community. His passing marks the end of a life that witnessed tremendous social and technological change, from the Great Depression era through the modern age. Throughout his years, he remained connected to the Statesville area, building relationships and memories with those around him.
The hospice care he received in his final days reflected his family’s commitment to ensuring his comfort and dignity. His peaceful passing suggests he was surrounded by compassionate care during his transition.
